Wrth fynd yma a thraw dros yr rhyngrwyd, deuthum, ar hap a damwain, ar draws papur newydd Cymreig o’r flwyddn 1857, a gwelais mewn hysbyseb fod yr enw ‘Porth Cawl’ yn ail i’r enw ‘Pwll Cawl’. Dyma’r pwt o’r newyddiadur.

THE CARDIFF AND MERTHYR GUARDIAN, SATURDAY, JANUARY 3, 1857

LLYNVI VALLEY RAILWAY COMPANY
HARBOUR OF PWLL CAWL
OTHERWISE PORTH CAWL.

WHEREAS the LLYNVI VALLEY RAILWAY COMPANY, in pursuance of the powers contained in their Acts of Parliament (Local and Personal, 6 Geo. 4, c. 104, and 18 Vict., c.50), propose to make and pass certain Bye Laws, a copy of which is subjoined in the Schedule hereto, for the due Regulation of the Pilots belonging to the Harbour of Pwll Cawl, otherwise Porth Cawl, in the County of Glamorgan. AND WHEREAS the same have, in pursuance of 333rd section of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1854, been submitted to the Lords of the Committee of the Privy Council for Trade for their approval, previous to confirmation, as, by the said last-mentioned Act, directed. Now NOTICE is hereby given, that any person having any objection to the said proposed Bye Laws, or any or either of them, is hereby required, within 21 days from the publication hereof, to make and signify the same to  the Llynvi Valley Railway Company, being the Pilotage Authority, either at Pwll Cawl, otherwise Porth Cawl, aforesaid, or at their Office, No. 21, Westbourne-place, Paddington, in the County of Middlesex, or to the undersigned, in order that any objection  or observation may be submitted to the Lords of the Privy Council for Trade previously to the making and passing of the intended Bye Laws.
